COMMITTED to nurturing home-grown talent, Belfast's Bruiser Theatre Company are excited to launch the Bruiser Virtual Arts Academy from August 2020.

The Bruiser Virtual Arts Academy is an intensive eight-week online programme that provides performing arts training for passionate young artists. This new virtual arts academy is the closest Bruiser can get to the rehearsal room; fostering collaboration, team work, performance skills enhancement and providing insight into Bruiser's process.

Designed to put participants thoroughly through their paces, the Arts Academy is perfect for young people who have a passion for performance – it's an opportunity to gain valuable experience and embark upon an exciting creative journey.

"At Bruiser we see the importance of developing local talent," comments Bruiser artistic director, Lisa May.

"By offering this training course, students are given the chance to excel in their craft and flourish into great artists. Looking back on some of our past alumni, we have proudly watched as they have grown into successful performers, progressing to drama school, working within film and TV, and even welcoming them back to work with us as professional actors on stage."

Practical and physical sessions act as a building block to launch the careers of emerging artists, as participants form professional relationships and develop skills at GCSE and A-level.

Students will experience the visually exciting, rhythmic, choral and choreographic elements of Bruiser's unique style as seen in our recent productions The 39 Steps, The Colleen Bawn and The Importance of Being Earnest.

By participating in a series of theatre workshops, performers will develop in their knowledge, confidence, and performance skills. Creating an avenue for local talent to thrive, the Arts Academy is the perfect opportunity for any young performer to kick start their career.

The Bruiser Arts Academy was designed in response to the critical need in Northern Ireland for high quality, professional development in the arts for young people. The Academy provides practical training in specialist performance areas such as physical theatre, script development, devising and voice.

Entering into its 14th year, Bruiser are proud of the success of the Arts Academy and thrilled to transfer their physical style onto a digital platform.
