ORIGINAL guitarist with Thin Lizzy, east Belfast-born Eric Bell, is performing at the Eastside Arts Festival's 'The Pound Remembers' event this Saturday.

Bell, famous for the guitar riff in the band's hit single Whiskey in the Jar, will join The Monarchs showband (in which Van Morrison once played) and Belfast rock band of yesteryear Light, for a special show in honour of The Pound – the celebrated home of music in Belfast during the 60s and 70s.

The historic Belfast club, which was a place of musical refuge during the Troubles, saw many local legends grow to global superstars, among them The Group and The Undertones.

Eric Bell – see our interview with him in this Saturday's Weekend section – plays with his own band these days and will be performing at the event as part of a special UK Thin Lizzy 50th anniversary tour.

:: The event takes place at The Big Top, CS Lewis Square, and starts at 2.30pm. eastsidearts.net/whats-on
