FEMALE writers from across Northern Ireland will perform new readings at Mount Stewart this weekend to mark the close of the successful 'Faces of Change: Votes for Women' exhibition.

The group from Women Aloud NI, which raises the profile of women writers in the region, will perform at two sessions – 12 noon and 2pm – at the literary event on Saturday.

Appropriately, given the theme of the exhibition, the focus will be on women and power, voice and identity, with each of the 11 participants set to regale visitors with prose inspired by the exhibition.

Those taking part are Maureen Boyle, Trish Bennett, Kerry Buchanan, Kelly Creighton, Byddi Lee, Moyra Donaldson, Anne McMaster, Liz Weir, Karen Mooney, Kendra Reynolds and Gaynor Kane.

Neil Watt, house and collections manager at Mount Stewart, said: "I am delighted that we will host an event to mark the close of our exhibition, which has been running in conjunction with the National Portrait Gallery."
