The Late Shift promises 'night at the museum' fun for adults

Circus Ringmaster Robert Forshaw invites you to a Carnival of Delights at Bagenal’s Castle

MUSEUMS in the north will be opening their doors for special after-dark 'adults-only'-orientated arts events this autumn. The Late Shift series aims to kick-start a culture of 'museum lates' in Northern Ireland with six museums taking part in the 'over-18s' events series from October 19 until November 4.

Guests can hone their zombie-survival skills at North Down Museum in Bangor, join a Carnival of Delights at Newry's Bagenal's Castle, give sunrise yoga a go at Mossley Mill in Newtownabbey, journey Into The Mystic with Armagh County Museum's celebration of Van Morrison, join a 15th century house party at Enniskillen Castle and/or see electronic musician Ryan Vail headline The Dark Tower at Derry's Tower Museum.

"Museum lates are all about a different night-time experience," explains event programmer Adam Turkington of Seedhead Arts, the man who oversaw Culture Night Belfast between 2011 and 2016. "People can go to a really unique heritage venue, have a drink with friends and experience something completely unexpected."
