DERRY'S annual musical celebration returns to the city next week as the City of Derry Jazz and Big Band Festival gets under way.

Running from Thursday May 3 to Monday May 7, this year's festival will feature bands and artists from around the world while attracting an estimated 60,000 revellers to Derry over the May bank holiday weekend.

Van Morrison will be the 2018 headline act, as he returns to the Millennium Forum for two shows on May 6 and 7. Other artists performing at the 2018 event include Dinosaur, Heavy Beat Brass Band, The Revolutionaires!, Kaz Hawkins & Sam York and Basork.

A new addition for this year's ODJABBF is the Darren Beckett Masterclass, which will be open to all musicians. Currently studying at University of Ulster, Beckett is a talented drummer who has played everywhere from Carnegie Hall in New York to London's Royal Albert Hall while performing with top names including Lauryn Hill, Brandon Flowers, Émilie Simon and Madeleine Peyroux.
