Now on sale: Beth Orton Irish dates
ACCLAIMED singer-songwriter Beth Orton has announced that she will return to Ireland early next year.
The Norfolk born chanteuse will play three Irish dates in February: The Limelight 2 on Saturday February 3, Dublin Whelan's on Sunday February 4 and the Roisin Dubh in Galway on Monday February 5.
Orton released her sixth album Kidsticks last year, featuring the singles Moon, 1973 and Wave. Co-produced by Andrew Hung of Bristolian experimentalists Feck Buttons, the record found Orton ditching her acoustic guitar in favour of synths for her most 'electronic' sounding offering to date.
"Giving me the keyboard gave me control, in a way," she told the Guardian last year. "That had never really happened before. I got to play the synth, I got to play my own basslines, I got to build my own sound. I just played and played without too much thinking.
"There was a sense of wonderment to just making sounds again. It's hard to explain, but it was almost as if I had never played an instrument before."
