ARTWORK produced by art and architecture students in Belfast is to be showcased in one of the city's newest apartment buildings following a competition and link-up with Ulster University.

The Gallery Belfast, which opened on Dublin Road this year, challenged students at the university to devise bespoke creations to accentuate the unique architecture of the award-winning building and complement its surroundings.

Fashion and textile student Susan Montgomery was overall winner; her Woodlands digital screen print work is now on display in the lobby. The other six winners were Natalie Cole, Ciaran Vaudequin, Beth Isaac, Anna Johnston, Anna Duffy and Christine Bell.

Dungannon property developer Gary McCausland, CEO of The Richmond Group which built the Gallery, said he was "overwhelmed by the quality of the entries”.

The building's ground floor café bar already features original works by Irish artists including William Conor, Colin Davison, Brian Ballard and Neil Shawcross.
