ANYONE with tickets for Dublin songstress Imelda May's upcoming live engagements at The Waterfront Hall in Belfast and/or Dublin's 3Arena will now be able to enjoy an opening turn by Co Cork singer/songwriter/stonemason Mick Flannery.

May, who played a trio of sold out dates at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre in her hometown following the release of 'comeback' album Life Love Flesh Blood earlier this year, has just announced the addition of the Blarney-born Flannery to her Irish dates on December 20 (Belfast) and 22 (Dublin).

The Berlin-based troubadour released his fifth album, I Own You, at the end of 2016. A notoriously shy figure, Flannery is happiest working on his music behind the scenes rather than performing it live.

"I prefer the writing, the creative side," he told the Motley.ie last year.

"If I had to sing [one of my songs] once for someone who would sing it for public consumption, that’d be fine – as long as they weren’t too s***!"

Flannery's fans, of course, are glad that's not the way things work.

:: Tickets on sale now via Ticketmaster.ie and Waterfront.co.uk (Belfast only).
