OF ALL the participants featured on Channel 4's unlikely 'watching people watching telly'-based hit Gogglebox, eccentric middle-class couple Giles and Mary are definitely among the most memorable thanks to their deadpan manner, eclectic fashion sense and shabby chic decorating aesthetic.

Now fans in the north have the chance to meet 'Nutty and Nutty', AKA veteran journalist Mary Killen and her beau of 28 years, Giles Wood, an acclaimed artist (and utility-trouser enthusiast), as the couple will be among the guests at the Mount Stewart Conversations festival this weekend.

On Saturday at 5.30pm the pair will participate in a discussion titled 'Boys' Jobs, Girls' Jobs' at the Co Down event, during which they will be taking "a light-hearted look at why home is where the trench warfare happens in the battle of the sexes and the hell of working from home".

Now in its second year, the two-day Mount Stewart Conversations Festival, hosted by the National Trust at its impressive 19th century stately home and gardens near Newtownards, features a varied line-up of guest speakers alongside an eclectic array of talks and creative workshops.

Top names taking part include Bafta-winning TV journalist Kate Adie and Ian Hislop of Have I Got News For You and Private Eye fame, with specialist talks ranging from 'Brexit and the Irish Economy' and 'The Rise of Women’s Leaders in Northern Ireland' to 'A Beginners Guide to Urban Bee Keeping' and '99 Glimpses of Princess Margaret with Craig Brown'.
