Nelly Irish dates

MULTI-PLATINUM and Grammy award winning rap star Nelly will be treating Irish fans to dates in Dublin and Belfast later this year.

The US musician will play at The Ulster Hall in Belfast on November 22 following his Dublin gig at Vicar St on November 20.

Texas-born Nelly – real name, Cornell Iral Haynes Jr – first emerged in 2000 with his top 20 debut album Country Grammar featuring the single Ride Wit Me before scoring huge international hits in 2002 with Hot in Herre and Dilemma (featuring Kelly Rowland) from second album Nellyville, the title of which was resurrected for his reality TV series on BET in 2014.

When asked about sustaining his career for almost 20 years, Nelly told Maxim magazine that: "Versatility is key. No artist can just stay one way. If you do, then you won’t last.

"You’ll just be trapped in that moment and trapped in that era. That can be cool, but I want to continue to make music as long as I can make music."
