QUEENS of The Stone Age will be playing one Irish show as part of their winter tour for their imminent new album, Villains.

The Josh Homme-led rockers will visit Dublin's 3Arena on Friday November 24 in support of their latest LP which is due out on August 25.

"The title Villains isn’t a political statement," explains Homme of the upcoming album, which (rather worryingly) is being co-produced by Mark Ronson.

"It has nothing to do with Trump or any of that s***. Everyone needs someone or something to rail against – their villain – same as it ever was. You can't control that. The only thing you can really control is when you let go."

As for what the Palm Desert-bred band's first album since 2013's excellent Like Clockwork will sound like, the 'ZZ Top gone glam' stylings of first single The Way You Used To Do suggests that they've moved on yet again from their pointedly progressive previous LP.

"The most important aspect of making this record was re-defining our sound, asking and answering the question 'what do we sound like now?'," offers Homme.

"If you can’t make a great first record, you should just stop. But if you can make a great record but you keep making records and your sound doesn’t evolve, you become a parody of that original sound."

Well alright then.
