1. When did you think about music as a career and what were your first steps into it?

One night in my late teens I sang with a family band called the Murrays at the local hotel in Dungloe. I can remember watching the people happily dancing and singing along with me. It was at this moment I thought if I could spend my life doing this I would be very fulfilled. After school, I went to college in Galway but only stayed three months before giving the music a go, at first travelling with my sister Margo's band. I made my first record on February 9 1983.

2. Best gigs you’ve been to?

Any time I see Loretta Lynn – she is my favourite singer of all time. Cliff Richard's Hit List Live show was just fantastic and Celine Dion at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas.

3. Fantasy wedding/birthday party band?

Loretta Lynn would have to be out front, Chet Atkins on guitar, Floyd Cramer on piano, Ringo Starr on drums The Jordanaires doing backing vocals.

4. The record you’d take to a desert island?

Loretta Lynn's Greatest Hits.

5. And the book?

I liked The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas.

6. Top three films?

The Sound of Music, The Shawshank Redemption and Ghandi.

7. Worst film you’ve seen?

Liar Liar.

8. Favourite authors?

I can't really comment on this one as I don't read much.

9. Sports you most enjoy and top teams?

I like playing and watching golf and I love Gaelic football and hurling. Of course Donegal is my favourite team.

10. Ideal holiday destination?

We go to Tenerife a lot and always enjoy it. However, our favourite holiday is a cruise.

11. Pet hate?

I hate idle gossip.

12. What’s your favourite Dinner?

I love mince and potatoes. My mother used to make this when we were young. She was a great cook.

Dessert? Apple tart with ice cream and custard. Vera Allen from Cookstown makes the best apple tarts. Any time she comes to our show she brings me one.

Drink? I don't drink alcohol, but I like an odd Baileys coffee.

13. Who is your best friend and how do you know each other?

Josephine Bourke. whom I've been friends with for over 40 years and PJ Sweeney – we've been friends since secondary school. He was my best man and I was his.

14. Is there a God?

I believe there is.
