WITH its full programme still yet to be announced, the Belfast Film Festival has already created a serious buzz by revealing that actor extraordinaire John Cusack will be a 'special guest' at this year's event.

The star of Love And Mercy, Grosse Pointe Blank, Say Anything, The Sure Thing, The Grifters, High Fidelity, Con Air and Being John Malkovich (to name but eight of his greatest hits) will be gracing us with his considerable presence for an 'in conversation' event at Movie House Dublin Road on March 31.

Unfortunately for anyone just now finding out about it, this sold out a couple of hours after going on sale earlier in the week.

However, don't form an angry mob just yet: the festival will also be screening a selection of Cusack classics, including the aforementioned Grosse Pointe Blank, Say Anything and High Fidelity, with the Illinois-born Irish-American talent attending the latter show at QFT on April 1 for a post-movie Q&A session.

Cusack will also be fielding audience inquiries after a special screening of one of his lesser known flicks, 2002 drama Max (Strand Arts Centre, also April 1), in which he plays a Jewish art dealer who spots the talent in a young Austrian painter, Adolf Hitler.

Tickets for those go on sale on Tuesday afternoon, so if you're dying to know something about those films, why Vince Larkin wore Birkenstocks or if the Sure Thing man actually does know 'who invented liquid soap and why?', here's your chance.

Belfast Film Festival will also be presenting the US star with its Réalta award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to cinema – it could go to no finer fellow.
