STEPHEN Rea will be in Belfast next Monday to launch the programmes for this year's Féile an Earraigh and Respect Human Rights Film Festival.

The Bafta-winning Belfast-born actor will be in town to lend his creative weight and support to the Belfast Fèile's new 'Spring sister' as well as coming on board as patron of the Respect festival.

The Oscar-nominated star of The Crying Game will be speaking at the launch of the festivals on Monday February 20 at Culturlann, which have joined forces to produce a line-up of events running from March 3 to 18 across the city, including screenings, talks, discussions and debates, live music, theatre and literature.

Respect director Sean Murray said that the festival was delighted to have Rea as patron.

"He's a huge star and is firmly behind the ethos of what we're trying to achieve at Respect. The programme will illustrate the many screenings, workshops and debates as part of our first and widely anticipated cultural programme of events," said Murray.

Fèile director Kevin Gamble added: "To say Stephen Rea is a household name in Ireland is something of an understatement. The man is a true legend, and we're thrilled to have him down for our launch."

:: The launch takes place at Culturlann, Falls Road on Monday February 20 from 11am. All are welcome.
