THE rudest puppets in showbiz are headed for Belfast as musical comedy hit Avenue Q comes to the Grand Opera House.
This adults-only spoof of Seasame Street and The Muppets is a 'part flesh, part felt' production about college graduate Princeton and his literally colourful collection of neighbours at a shabby New York apartment complex on Avenue Q.
These include Kate Monster, teaching assistant and typical 'girl next door', Republican banker (and closet homosexual) Rod and internet porn-addicted recluse Trekkie Monster – all of whom play a part in helping Princeton discover his 'true purpose in life'.
Winner of the coveted 'triple crown' at the Tony Awards of Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book, Broadway hit Avenue Q features plenty of hilarious 'educational' musical moments including Everyone's A Little Bit Racist, I'm Not Wearing Underwear Today and everybody's favourite, The Internet Is For Porn.
