J Willgoose Esq: Recording the Race For Space album, Wednesday February 24, Sonic Arts Research Centre, QUB, Belfast

J WILLGOOSE Esq of eccentric experimental instrumentalists Public Service Broadcasting will be visiting the NI Science Festival next week to talk us through the making of the band's acclaimed concept album The Race For Space.

Taking the historic US/USSR space race its inspiration, The Race For Space wove together samples of period news reels and archival transmissions from the Sputnik and Apollo missions into an impressively dynamic and evocative nine-track soundscape.

J Willgoose Esq will explain the painstaking work that went into the making of the band's acclaimed second album, from researching the subject at hand to sourcing and licensing the material used and on to the actual recording process.

An essential evening's entertainment for Public Service Broadcasting fans, experimental indie rock enthusiasts and space freaks alike.
