Games: Gravity Rush Remastered the most fun you'll have getting around since Portal

Gravity Rush Remastered (PS4)

By: Sony

TO SLIP the surly bonds of Earth and touch the face of God... To fly! The dream of man and flightless bird alike.

When Gravity Rush's airborne adventure made something as dull as getting from A to B a joy, Vita owners knew they were on to something special. The four-year-old, gravity-defying adventure was one of the finest reasons for spunking the cash on Sony's ill-fated handheld, but with a PS4 sequel in the works, the Japanese giant is letting the console set see what all the fuss was about in this remastered grave-rob from the Vita's short but glorious past.

The most fun you'll have getting around since Portal, Gravity Rush spins the tale of amnesiac anime chick Kat, who, with the help of her feline companion Dusty, must save the floating city of Hekeville with the kind of gravity-defying powers that would have Newton spinning in his grave.

Directed by the creators of the original Silent Hill, the physics-bending journey boasts the most adorable lead in years. You'll be all over Kat like a fly on a pile of seductive manure as you unravel her skills and identity, all the while fending off the attacking Nevi masses.

The gravity-flipping mechanic really nails the sense of hurtling through the air, and with any surface becoming the ground, Kat can scuttle along walls and ceilings like a sexy cockroach.

The candy palette belies a surprising amount of depth, with an open-world design and light RPG noodling keeping the grey matter ticking over as you deliver gravity-aided smackdowns to a menagerie of eye-popping beasties.

The difference between this and the Vita original is like night and day. On the big screen, this PS4 fuelled ground-up recreation turns what was a charming, if rather fuzzy, portable effort into a HD showstopper, with an artistically stunning Studio Ghibli-esque universe backed up by an incredible soundtrack.

All of the original's DLC is included along with new Challenge Missions to hone players' abilities. Motion controls are still in play, though significantly reduced for a more intuitive interface. If there was one game worth owning a PlayStation Vita for, Gravity Rush is arguably it. And now Kat finally gets the audience she deserves on the most popular console in the world, its 10 hours of questing bringing fans up-to-speed before the sequel drops later in the year.
