Special event: Belfast punks The Defects launch new album

ORIGINAL Belfast punks The Defects released their brand new album 45 Minutes last month, their second since reforming back in 2010 and only their third proper long player since forming in 1978.

Tonight, the band celebrate the new release on the Punkerama label – which features the title track's anti-war anthem and No Authority's throbbing ode to dissent – with a special album release gig on home turf at The Empire.

The show includes a full supporting bill featuring Stop Stop Start Again, No Matter, Shock Treatment 21 and a DJ set from Mr Good Vibrations himself, Mr Terri Hooley.

This will be the first Defects gig of 2016, but certainly not the last – a visit to Germany is already booked for next month, with more live action including an American tour planned to follow later in the year.

Yet more proof that punk's still not dead.

:: Tickets £6, doors 8.30pm.
