Michael Winslow, Tuesday December 1, Strule Arts Centre, Omagh

ANYONE who remembers the Police Academy films will also recall the incredible vocal mimicry of raw recruit (and eventually, Sergeant) Larvelle Jones, Mahoney's right-hand man when it came to annoying Lt Harris.

Jones (Michael Winslow) could instantly imitate anything from an angry dog to a machine gun – a real life ability that actually got the actor hired for the first film back in 1984.

Since then, Michael and/or his unique voice has/have appeared in everything from Spaceballs to Family Guy (not to mention horror spoof Lavalantula with his Police Academy pal Steve Guttenberg) and and he's also crafted a successful live show out of his still amazing to behold skills.

From soundtracking every element of an epic Star Wars battle scene to a full-on feedback-drenched reproduction of Jimi Hendrix's guitar and vocals, this is one act that has to be seen (and heard) to be believed.
