Don't miss: The Death and Resurrection Show at QFT

Killing Joke leader Jaz Coleman

Killing Joke: The Death and Resurrection Show, Saturday October 10, QFT, Belfast, 8.45pm.

TOMORROW sees a special cinema screening at Queen's Film Theatre for The Death and Resurrection Show, a new documentary about iconic post-punk band Killing Joke.

Twelve years in the making, director Shaun Pettigrew's feature-length film charts the Jaz Coleman-fronted act's turbulent journey through the past three decades.

New Zealand-based Pettigrew has gathered three decades-worth of archive film with 20 years of never-before-seen documentary footage and unprecedented access to Killing Joke's inner circle.

Thus, his two-and-a-half hour long film exhaustively explores the progression of the Joke and its music, covering in-fights, splits, reformations, legal tussles and side projects.

Interviews include Jaz Coleman, Martin ‘Youth' Glover, Kevin ‘Geordie' Walker, Big Paul Ferguson, Jimmy Page, Peter Hook, Dave Grohl, Alex Paterson, inventors, astrologists, 'gatherers' and many more.

"Each member of Killing Joke deserves his own film," comments Pettigrew of the mammoth task of putting The Death and Resurrection Show together.

"This is archival footage, but I've tried to give it a look and make it as cinematic as I possibly can."

As Killing Joke prepare to unleash their brand new album Pylon later this month, there's no better time to take stock of where this most influential and highly respected musical outfits are coming from.
