YEARS and Years now have the task of following up their stunning and successful single, King, with their upcoming album, Communion. Released in July, the album also features the band's trio of official singles that obviously didn't quite manage to scale the heady heights achieved by King.

Those singles, Real, Take Shelter and Desire were all quality tracks too that received plenty of plaudits and clocked up relatively good sales. Then of course the guys collaborated on the big summer anthem Sunlight by The Magician which certainly hit the spot. However, Years and Years' star only began to burn brightly when the majestic King came along and became a 2015 must hear.

The other tracks I have heard from Communion are very impressive too, with Olly, Mikey and Emre displaying a genuine talent when it comes to writing catchy pop songs. More surprising, though, is their grasp of more mature-sounding, soulful songs such as Memo, which is particularly strong, and Worship, a top-class piece of work that combines cutting edge production with classic songwriting.

Sometimes a band come along with a tune that becomes hugely popular and then the album criminally disappoints but on the strength of Communion it would seem that Years and Years are an actual force to be reckoned with.

Carey on

MARIAH Carey has turned back the clock with a new 'best of ' collection that boasts an amazing amount of massive hit singles. Reading through the track list is like reading a 90s chart run down with the likes of Vision of Love, Fantasy, Without You, Hero, Emotions and Dreamlover standing tall as songs that dominated an entire decade.

Her impact in terms of sales was mind blowing – this is an artist, remember, who has sold more than 200 million albums worldwide. Now that she has landed herself a Las Vegas residency, this compilation is well timed and it looks like Mariah's profile is very much on the rise again, even if only from a retro perspective. The album is called # 1 to Infinity and is available now.

Taylor made

TAYLOR Swift is set for yet another inescapable hit single with Bad Blood. This time the ex-country-now-pop star has got together with hip hop luminary Kendrick Lamar and has delivered a big, catchy chant that will be pumping out of every radio all summer long.

The video for the song turned out to be a major project, with a host of other stars as well as Lamar popping up alongside Swifty in supporting roles. Jessica Alba, Ellie Goulding,Selena Gomez and Cindy Crawford all feature prominently.
