APPLICATIONS for tickets are now open for three BBC Music Day events on Friday June 5. Part of the BBC Music initiative, BBC Music Day is a UK-wide celebration aiming to bring together generations and communities through their love of music.
In the north the event is set to be a day of great music content across TV, Radio and online. Internationally renowned flautist Sir James Galway will headline an evening of music from Crumlin Road Gaol, accompanied by pianist Michael McHale, with performances from Andrea Begley, the Belfast Community Gospel Choir and drumming group Releasing Rhythms. The concert will be broadcast later in the evening on both BBC One NI and BBC Radio Ulster.
Music fans can also apply for tickets to join BBC Radio Ulster/Foyle's Sean Coyle at his The Big Night (In The Morning) live from Lurgan Town Hall from 10.30am. Sean will be joined by programme regulars Janet, The Undertone and an audience of his loyal listeners.
In the afternoon, BBC Radio Ulster's Gerry Kelly hosts two hours of live music from the Ulster Hall, where performers include the BBC Radio Ulster Junior and Senior School Choir of the Year winners.
:: To apply for tickets to all three events see bbc.co.uk/tickets. There will be limited availability at some venues. Tickets are complimentary and will be allocated following a random draw. Applications close at 4pm tomorrow.
