JOE from Sigma tells me that the dance act's new material will be a bit special when it lands. The guys have been labouring hard on new tracks and have been working with some top vocalists.

“We can't really give too much away but we have been working with some well known names and it went really well.” reflects one half of the rising star duo. I think if people liked Nobody to Love and of course Changing which we did with Paloma Faith and Higher with Labrinth, they should definitely be into what's coming up.”

Sigma's debut album is called Life and will be released by the end of the summer. The guys are no stranger to playing shows in Northern Ireland – something which Joe is keen to remind us.

“We've always had a fantastic time when we've played Belfast. The audiences have been really warm and fun and totally up for a good time. When you're onstage doing a gig and you can feel the crowd getting into the show and becoming part of it – that is truly an incredible feeling.”

I ask Joe if he can even 'hear' Nobody To Love anymore – the song has been one of the most repetitively played records of the past year. Is he fed up with it yet? “I know what you mean – it's hard to actually hear it for what it is anymore. It's been played again and again but we're certainly not complaining. It was our breakthrough record and therefore it will always be very special to us. It's a nice problem to have, you know, having your songs played and played."

FLOWERS POWER

BRANDON Flowers releases his new solo album The Desired Effect on May 18. It's solo record number two for The Killers' main man following 2010's Flamingo. The Desired Effect is much more upbeat and enjoyable than it's predecessor which was a little too 'serious' in parts and finds Brandon having fun running through many of his 80s and UK influences.

Tracks such as Lonely Town, Still Want You and Can't Deny My Love are excellent and are unsurprisingly trailer tracks for the record but my favourites moments on the album are the captivating I Can Change and the addictive Untangled Love.

Killers fans need not worry that the demise of the band is impending – Flowers will be back in the studio with Mark, Ronnie and Dave as soon as The Desired Effect's promotion schedule ends.

TAME'S TIME

REALLY liking the new Tame Impala tune, Disciples. It's a fresh and bouncy cool pop song that although probably won't set the mainstream charts on fire but will be a favourite on many a discerning playlist this summer.

Having said that, with a bit of luck this could be the song that at least gets the Australian act (Kevin Parker who pretty much is Tame Impala) out there. Hear it sooner rather than later.
