A COUNCIL has admitted it should not have released funding running to thousands of pounds for pallets burnt on loyalist bonfires. Payments were made "in error" to three groups in Antrim to buy wooden pallets. Council guidelines say bonfire groups should only receive funding for related 'family fun events' – but not for the building of pyres.

Ebola nurse readmitted to hospital with infection

THE Scottish nurse who fought the Ebola virus has been re-admitted to hospital where she is described as in a "serious condition" Pauline Cafferkey (39), a cousin of former Republic goalkeeper Packie Bonner, was flown from Glasgow to an isolation unit at the Royal Free Hospital in London in the early hours of Friday morning after developing a late complication linked to the infection.
