A BLIND athlete left paralysed when he fell 25ft from a bedroom window while staying with friends has won his High Court battle for damages. Mark Pollock (39) suffered spinal and brain injuries in the July 2010 accident. Mr Pollock restricted his damages claim to the limit of his friend's insurance policy so they would not have to pay anything personally. Mr Pollock became the first blind person to reach the South Pole.

A SAVAGE killer who murdered a devoted grandmother, stabbing her 26 times in a frenzied attack after breaking into her home and handcuffing her two daughters, has been released from jail. Liam 'Birdie' McBride was convicted of the 1998 murder of 48-year-old Sally Diver.
